SUPERVISOR: Principal
SALARY RANGE: In Accordance with RCBOE Salary Schedules TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work Year – 10 or 11 months __________________________________________________ SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Works under direction of the principal, assists with administering and supervising the total school program and providing educational leadership for the students and staff members consistent with the educational goals of the community. Functions include establishing a climate conducive to learning, planning, and coordinating programs, effecting change, and decision-making. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Asterisk for essential job duties.) 1. Works with the principal to analyze, share, and use school and student achievement data to develop and implement the school improvement plan. 2. Works with the principal to implement systematic procedures to assess program effectiveness. 3. Assume responsibility for any areas of administration and management assigned by the principal; use administrative and management practices which promote the efficient and effective operation of the school. (*) 4. Works with principal to establish and maintain relationships with the PTA/PTO, School Council and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, two-way communication, and initiate activities which foster productive parent and community involvement. Deal promptly and positively with behavior problems. Work with the principal, teacher, and parents to ensure appropriate programming for all students. Assume specific responsibilities assigned by the principal in the selection, orientation, assignment, supervision and evaluation of staff. 5. Assists with identification of professional learning needs and the development and implementation of school improvement plan to meet those needs. 6. Ability to analyze and synthesize data and then prepare a variety of written reports and correspondence detailing their examination. 7. Conducts teacher parent-pupil conferences to promote the maximum student achievement for all students through Response to Intervention (RTI), Student Support Teams, and other appropriate interventions. Works cooperatively with all instructional programs and will initiate response to intervention referrals and intra-school placement as directed by the principal. 8. Supervises teaching and learning on a continuous basis for improvement of classroom instructions and teacher-pupil relationships. 9. Coordinates and supervises lunch, bus, hall duty as well as instructional, athletic, and extracurricular activities. 10. Assists the principal in developing monitoring and the implementation of the master schedule. 11. Makes decisions and recommendations to pupils, teacher, counselors, and parents, affecting student scheduling. 12. Coordinates, reviews, and inspects pupil’s attendance records, enrollment reports and other surveys requested by administrative offices. 13. Follows the district policies in the evaluation of school personnel. 14. Coordinates, with the principal, the work of law enforcement agencies. 15. Assumes complete responsibility for the school during the absence of the principal regarding matters of the ministerial nature that are not in conflict with the principal’s authority. (*) 16. Supervises and coordinates the inventory of all instructional materials, textbooks, and equipment. 17. Increases understanding and use of current professional skills in technology to analyze, interpret, and utilize data to improve student achievement, instructional support and the management of informational. 18. Assists with the implementation of a school discipline plan that contains clear expectation and adheres to the policies and procedures of the RCSS and the RC Code of Conduct. 19. Monitors, assists, and evaluate staff implementation of school improve plans, SACs, SAT, Academic Reform Plan, and effective instructional and assessment practices. 20. Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly environment; assists in implementing and communicating the emergency procedures Emergency Preparedness Plan to students, teacher and staff. 21. Supervise after school programs and extracurricular activities as needed. 22. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS: Thorough knowledge of RCSS policies and procedures, the RCSS Improvement Plan and its Vision, Mission and Beliefs, GA Statewide Accountability System, GA Code of Ethics, State Assessment (CRCT, ITBS, GHSGT), and state and federal regulations and laws. Possess knowledge of curriculum, instruction, organizational patterns, school operations, and pupil services. Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to inspire outstanding performance and positive morale. Display excellent interpersonal ability including oral and written skills. Effective use of email and other forms of current technology as tools of communication and resourcefulness are also required. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree or higher in any education field, or in other Georgia PSC accepted non-education fields. Minimum of three years of successful experience as a classroom teacher is required. Master's degree in educational leadership preferred.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: A valid Georgia educator's certificate. Possess Georgia educational leadership certificate or eligible for NPL (must complete a specialist degree performance-based leadership program and obtain PL6 certification within five years).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light work, exerting up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Attendance at evening and weekend school and district functions, as required.
