Education
: High school diploma preferred. Technical degree/diploma in the field of air-conditioning/heating preferred.

Certification or Licensure: Must possess a valid state driver license and EPA Certification for the use and handling of refrigerants. 

Skills: Knowledge of air-conditioning tools and equipment and how to use each. Knowledge of electricity. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Good interpersonal skills with fellow workers and other personnel.

Work Experience: Minimum of two years field experience in heating and air-conditioning. Possess ability to work independently to resolve problems with HVAC systems.


Preventive maintenance and the repair of all types of heating, air-conditioning and ventilation systems.

  1. Responds to service calls in priority order and repairs equipment as quickly as possible.
  2. Gives status reports to the foreman and determines what action should be taken to make repairs.
  3. Follow-up on equipment that could not be repaired during the first visit.
  4. Trouble shoots HVAC systems.
  5. Keeps accurate records and records work orders into an electronic work order system.
  6. Maintains all equipment, tools and truck assigned.
  7. Keeps records of equipment and warranty parts.
  8. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned, or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

Good physical condition (heavy lifting). Sufficient physical strength and ability to lift and move heavy objects (minimum 50lbs.) and perform manual labor.
