JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: High School Diploma required. Associate degree or equivalent.

 

Certification or Licensure: None.

 

Skills: Considerable knowledge of computerized instructional materials management to include shipping, receiving, storing, and financial accounting for textbooks and other instructional resources. Ability to effectively deal with large amounts of data and reconcile physical inventory reports. Computer skills in word processing and databases including Destiny. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Work Experience: Two years of supervisory experience in shipping and receiving and instructional materials management.  Knowledge of supply organization, delivery schedules, and safety regulations. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must have a current, valid driver’s license.

 

PRIMARY DUTY:

 

This position is responsible for the management and delivery of all textbooks and instructional materials owned by the Richmond County Board of Education.  Conducts physical inventories verifying quantity levels and accuracy of computerized inventory stock balances.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Organize and schedule all textbooks and instructional materials for delivery to all schools and departments.
  2. Directs the daily activities of the staff including the textbook hotline and transfers.
  3. Acts as a liaison between coordinators, principals, and the Purchasing Department regarding the delivery of textbooks to schools.
  4. Meets with coordinators and leadership personnel regarding textbook adoptions and related issues.
  5. Supervises and oversees the use of Destiny: Electronic Textbook Management Program.
  6. Receives, sorts, and routes all textbook delivery tickets by established delivery routes.
  7. Fill out receiving slips on all incoming textbooks and instructional materials.
  8. Fill out necessary reports if damage or discrepancy occurs in a shipment. Verifies that the brand and ISBN number delivered match the same as specified on the purchase order.
  9. Performs close visual inspections of items and compares requirements of purchase orders to physical dimensions and packaging.
  10. Performs quarterly physical inventories of textbooks and merchandise.
  11. Ensures textbooks are properly transferred from one school to another.
  12. Ensures all surplus textbooks are removed from schools.
  13. Traces lost or delayed shipments in transit with trucking lines.
  14. Arranges delivery times with textbook vendors.
  15. Reports attendance of all Textbook personnel.
  16. Assists with the sale of old and outdated textbooks.
  17. Utilizes the comprehensive method of stock control to ensure that stock balances are adequate to support current rates of consumption.
  18. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.
